Jesse Madsen Obituary

Jesse "Chloe" Coleman Madsen 1911 ~ 2006 On Saturday, July 29, 2006, our loving mother and grandmother returned home to be reunited with many loved ones. She had lived a long and fruitful life, enriching all those with whom she came in contact. Chloe will be missed and lovingly remembered. Jesse "Chloe" Coleman Madsen was born March 17, 1911 to Henry Threlkeld and Emily Springer Coleman in Midway, Utah. She was the last of 11 children. Chloe went to work with her sister at the Madsen Fishing Camp at Strawberry Reservoir and there she met G. Frank Madsen. They were married August 20, 1930 in Midway, Wasatch County, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Chloe spent her early life in Midway and attended school there and graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber. She then came to Provo where she stayed with her sister Merle and worked and attended BYU. After her marriage, she and Frank, along with her mother-in-law, ran the Madsen Fishing Camp at Strawberry each summer where you could get the best meals, homemade bread and pies. People came from all around to sample Chloe's great cooking. In 1976 Frank became ill and they sold the Camp. Frank passed away in 1980. Chloe worked for the Provo School lunch program for many years until her retirement. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions over the years. She was an Ordinance Worker at the Provo Temple. Chloe was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as well as Daughters of the American Revolution. Chloe and Frank were the parents of four children: Sally (Paul) Harding, Dr. G. Frank (Kay) Madsen II (deceased), Dale Coleman Madsen (deceased), Chloe Ann (Alden) Thomas, 14 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband G. Frank Madsen, sons, Dr. G. Frank Madsen II, and Dale Madsen, son-in-law, Alden Thomas, her parents, brothers, Henry, Nathan, Guy, Dale, Glen and Keith, and sisters, Merle Madsen, Lethe Tatge, Rhea Guild and Ruth Philips. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5th, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call at the Mortuary from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Midway City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

Dear Chloe Ann & Sally, Even though it is difficult to be parted from your mother, we all know she is now in a wonderful place. I was in Strawberry for our Smith Reunion when I heard that she had passed away. Wonderful memories of our lives together at the fishing camp have created a bond with all of you that will be eternal. May God bless you with peace and comfort at this time. Love, JoAnn

Dear Chloe Ann,Sally, and Family:

Your Mother was always so sweet and kind. I used to kid she and Ilah, because they always ended up wearing the same color in Church. They denied that they planned it, but I've always wondered. What a wonderful reunion they are having about now! Much love to you!

I grew up in the Pioneer First Ward in Provo, and Sister Madsen was so wonderful to my sister, Marsha, and to me. We loved visiting with her and spending time with her and her neighbor, Sister Ilah Carter. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

Dear Chole Ann and Sally,

May you be especially blessed at this time with a great comfort of knowing how happy she is to again be with Frank

I love my memories of them as a child. How fun it was to go trick or treating. Frank always inisted on a trick.

As I serve the Young Women of our Stake, I fondly remember my own leaders, You, Chole Ann and your wonderful Mother. Remembering the love I felt. May you both be blessed with great memories.

Love, Kathleen (Jackson)
