VerrDon Mason age 89. VerrDon Mason passed away December 31, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah due to the effects of aging.
He was born May 4, 1922 in Aurora, Utah to Philip and Maria (Sorensen) Mason, the ninth of thirteen children. He graduated from North Sevier High School in Salina, Utah and attended Southern Utah College until he entered the U.S. Army. VerrDon served in the European Theater during World War II.
On June 14, 1946, VerrDon married Jean Holbrook in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Bountiful, Utah until they moved to Quincy, Washington when the opportunity to own their own farm arrived. After farming VerrDon was self-employed, owning Mason's Floor Covering. They were married over 50 years. They are the parents of six children - D. Jeffrey Mason, J. Bradley Mason, Warren H. Mason, Ruth A. Mason, VerrDon H. Mason, and Karen Monson. VerrDon was active in church and community service. After the passing of his wife, Jean, VerrDon married Barbara Wiggins and lived in Salt Lake City. They were married for fourteen years. Both were active in the Lions Club and loved to dance.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, two siblings, his children, 40 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: 14885 NW West Union Road, Portland OR 97229. VerrDon will be interred at the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR
