DON D. ROMINE
Ankeny
Don was born May 3, 1927, in New Virginia, IA, to Harry and Hazel (Weaver) Romine and raised on the family farm. He died July 27, 2009 of congestive heart failure and complications from Parkinson's.
Don was a service technician with Sears for 37 years. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Delores Romine, and two daughters, Karen (Ray) Woodmansee of Arlington Heights, IL, and Marilyn Romine Mattix of Shawnee, KS. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Todd, Kyle and Sean Woodmansee, and Jena and Mitchell Mattix. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Fay John Romine.
Visitation will be held at Ankeny Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Ankeny Funeral Home on Thursday, July 30, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Day Care at the Neveln Center, 306 SW School St. Ankeny, IA 50023.
