Terence "Terry" Charles Chapman

Terence "Terry" Charles Chapman, 81, of Allen, TX, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at The Medical Center of Plano in Plano, TX.

Terry was born December 4, 1934, in Edgewood, IA, the son of Charles and Kathryn (Koile) Chapman. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1952 and in 1954 volunteered into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, serving two years in Alaska. After the service Terry attended Coe College and then began his career in plumbing and heating.

On August 17, 1957, he was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Koeneke at St. Marks Catholic Church in Edgewood, IA.

Terry enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family, with a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was an accomplished craftsman from handcrafted family keepsakes to construction of their retirement home at Lake Thunderhead Missouri. He loved attending NBA games and supporting the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls.

Terry spent his adult years working in Edgewood, Oelwein, Ottumwa, and West Des Moines, Iowa. Retiring to Lake Thunderhead in Putnam County, Missouri and wintering in Pharr, Tx.

Terry is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Jeff (Diane) Chapman of Phoenix, AZ; his daughter, Joan (Berk) Smith of Plano, TX; his grandchildren: Stefanie (David) Beckmann of Burr Ridge, IL; Ron (Sarah) Chapman of Oak Park, IL; Kayla Smith of Atlanta, GA; and Nick Smith of Richardson, TX; his great-grandchildren; Benjamin Beckmann, Simon Beckmann, and Terry Chapman; and his sisters, Diana (Leo) Helle and Mary Smock of Edgewood, IA. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Chapman, and his parents.

Shirley: If I remember correctly, today is your birthday and as I googled, I see that Terry died last June. I am so sorry for your loss and wish that we could reconnect after all of these years. I still live in Kansas City - have 9 grandchildren and seem to continue to keep busy. Earl died 14 yrs ago. My telep. # is 913 652 9509 - would love to hear from you. Elaine Tauke Beall
