Geoffrey Waters

1920 - 2010

Geoffrey Waters, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, Jan. 4, 2010, at his home in Granbury.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at First Baptist Church of Granbury.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Granbury First Baptist Church, Building Fund.
Geoffrey was born March 7, 1920, in Bryson to Guy and Emma Waters. He grew up in Flomot with three brothers and five sisters. He married his beloved Betty on Dec. 12, 1942. He served his country in the Army Air Corps in World War II in the South Pacific. Geoffrey and Betty raised their two daughters in Fort Worth. He was a Fort Worth firefighter for 33 years, retiring as captain in 1982.
Geoffrey was known for his wonderful sense of humor and faithfulness to his church, where he served as deacon and member of various committees. He loved to sing and was a devoted choir member at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Granbury. He was a devoted husband, a godly example to his family, and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Survivors: His wife of 67 years, Betty Waters; daughter, Donna Yarbrough and husband, Jack Yarbrough, of Granbury; daughter, Sunnye Rigby and husband, Mike Rigby, of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, David Yarbrough and wife, Leslie, of Colleyville, Jeff Yarbrough and wife, Lisa, of Granbury, Will Rigby and wife, Melinda, of Dallas and Amy Wiles and husband, Eamonn, of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Zachary Yarbrough, Jaxson Yarbrough, Caden Yarbrough, Chaney Yarbrough, Waylon Rigby and Hadley Wiles; sister, Sylvia Lee Martin of Matador; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
