Joe Mapes was always friendly and ready with a kind word. Although I've only known him a short time, I always looked forward to seeing him. His smile just brightened things up. My prayers are with the family and friends that are missing him now. May God grant you a sense of peace and comfort.
With sincere sympathy,

I worked for many years with Joe at Freese and Nichols. He was a very good friend. My condolences to Viola at this sad time.

Joe Mapes was an exceptional man. He lived 92 years due to an active lifestyle, perseverance, and clean living. He took a sack lunch to work and would swim at the YMCA during his lunch hour. He was an avid golfer and a gifted painter. Uncle Joe had great faith in the Lord who helped him through many hardships in his life. Our family is very grateful to him for coming into Aunt Viola's life at a difficult time and sharing many wonderful years together.
Joe Mapes was a man of honor and integrity and will be greatly missed.
