North Richland Hills, Texas - Lanelle Wyatt Parr, 85, passed away Friday, January 27 after a brief illness.
Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5953 Bowman Roberts Rd.
Lanelle and her identical twin, Lounette, were born October 24, 1937 in Fort Worth to Winston and Mary Wyatt. After a chance meeting in church, she married Charles Parr and began her life raising three children, traveling the United States and Spain as an Air Force wife.
Lanelle was an avid reader, friendly, feisty and funny - always quick with a one liner in that most "unique" voice of hers. She and her sister were famous in the family for bestowing nicknames that could never be outgrown or forgotten. Lanelle loved Charley Pride, Dolly Parton, Handel's "Messiah", Broadway musicals, traveling and her family - particularly her four granddaughters, Katie, Melanie, Lauren and Erin; and her 13 great-grandchildren.
Mamaw's life mantra of "how many people can say they have lived to see all their granddaughters grow up and marry wonderful men; AND see the birth of all of their great-grandchildren?" was an indication of what she held most dear in her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her twin; and her husband of 65 years.
Lanelle is survived by her children and their spouses: Reggie and Linda Parr, Robbie and Michael Griffin and Jeffrey and Wendy Parr; four granddaughters and their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren; her younger sister and her husband, Dixie and Keith Miller; plus numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Universal Hospice Fort Worth or the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
