Robert Carr Obituary

Robert (Bob) Carr
September 22, 1951 - August 5, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - Robert Edward Carr Jr. (Bob) of Fort Worth, Texas died on August 5 after a brave battle with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by family and friends. He was 69. Of his disease he often said, "cancer might kill me but it also dies with me, so it's a draw."
Bob was born in McKinney, TX to Dr. Robert Carr and Pauline Carr. He spent the majority of his childhood in Fort Worth where he formed many lifelong friendships. He graduated high school from Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas and then went on to obtain a degree in accounting from Texas Tech University.
After college, Bob started his career in the accounting department at Texas Electric Service, later TXU. He spent 42 years at TXU in a variety of management roles, including two years as the Director of Accounting for TXU Australia in Melbourne. He eventually retired as the Senior Director and Chief Audit Executive for Oncor Electric Delivery. Throughout his career, many people regarded him as a strong leader and mentor and he was always proud of the successes of his coworkers and friends.
Bob was a caring and loyal husband to his wife of 24 years, Carol S. Carr. They shared many mutual interests including their love for their dogs, the lake, and traveling. They visited most states and many countries throughout the world including a recent trip to Antarctica.
Most of all, Bob will be remembered for being an incredibly loving and supportive father, grandfather, and friend. His greatest pride in life was his family including his two children, their spouses, and his seven grandchildren. He loved nothing more than to be at his Cedar Creek Lake house surrounded by his family. He was a loyal and dependable friend and had many long-lasting friendships. Anyone who met Bob knew of his exceptionally welcoming and generous nature.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and beloved sister Betty St. Clair. He is survived by his spouse, his daughter Jennifer Breito and husband Mike of Aledo, TX, his son John Carr and wife Sara of Colleyville, TX, his grandchildren Caden and Carson Breito, Jackson, Kate, and Kendall Carr, Blake and Madison Beer, sister Nancy Clark and husband Junior of Ennis, TX.
Funeral services will be held at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas on August 27, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Cancer Care Services (cancercareservices.org).

Dear Carol and Family, I just learned today of Bob's death and I'm so very sorry for your loss. The obituary was beautifully written and embodied who Bob was. I could hear him saying the quote about his cancer - that was so him.

I'm grateful I was blessed to have been a part of his life when I worked for him at TXU. I had never had a more supportive, generous, and kind boss than Bob and felt honored to call him a friend.

I'm sure the grief is overwhelming to have lost someone so special and dear. My heart goes out to each and everyone one of you.

Hi Carol - I just learned of Bob's passing. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed working with you and Bob during my time in Retail Accounting in the early 2000s. I hope you and your family will find comfort in all the wonderful memories you shared with Bob. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care,
Shannon

Mr. Carr was always kind and funny to me when I was friends with his children in elementary school. My sympathies for your loss.
