Charles Stein Obituary

STEIN Charles F. "Chuck" Stein, 94, of Waverly, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Traditions in Waverly. He was born January 17, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Charles and Anna (Wilhelmine) Stein. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delorus (Halter) Stein in January 2012, his siblings Arthur Stein, Elsie Cobb, Flora Peters and Rudolph "Rudy" Stein. Chuck graduated from McKinley High School in Canton where he was on the varsity swim team. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran where he was a waist gunner in a B-24. Chuck went on to Kent State where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in education and Master's Degrees in both Industrial Arts and Art Education. He taught industrial and fine arts at Alliance High School and later at Chardon High School. Chuck had many talents including painting, sculpting, woodworking and music. For several years he played violin with an ensemble at Bristol Village in Waverly. Chuck is survived by his son, Rick (Debby) Stein of Circleville; grandchildren, Cristin (Joe) Huffman and Edward (Maria) Caplan, Jr.; great-granddaughters, Abigail and Layla Huffman. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at DEFENBAUGH-WISE-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215. To send condolences, visit www.schoedinger.com
