REYNOLDS Frank Edward Reynolds II, EdD, 76, of Hide-A-Way Hills, Ohio, died November 23, 2005 at Ohio State University Medical Center. Born August 12, 1929 in Weston, West Virginia, he was a son to the late Nelsonville, Ohio native, Frank Edward and Agnes Eisenman Reynolds Shaffer. His wife of fifty years, Mary Katherine "Kit" Stanton Reynolds, formerly of Clarksburg, West Virginia survives. Also surviving are two sons, Philip Anthony Reynolds and wife Sally Dunker of Hide-A-Way Hills and Frank "Chip" Edward Reynolds III and wife Deborah Reynolds of Yorktown, Virginia; grandchildren; and great grandchildren. Other survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Elizabeth Stanton Oyer of Westerville, OH; sister-in-law; Barbara Stanton Hall of Norfolk, Virginia; brother, Charles D. Reynolds of Clarksburg, West Virginia; sister, Elnora Reynolds Flinn of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania; aunt, Mrs. Paul Eisenman of Buckhannon, West Virginia; and nieces and nephews. Two of his nephews have been with him through his illness and assisted his wife in countless ways, David Oyer, wife Lisa of Powell, OH and Joseph Oyer, wife Kimberly of Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by infant son Joseph Stephen Reynolds, brother Vincent D. Reynolds, and sister Mary Elizabeth Reynolds Kinney. Dr. Reynolds was a member of Hide-A-Way Hills Club since 1972 and became a full time resident in 1997. Prior to that time the family lived in Marysville, OH for twenty-three years, Columbus and Canton, OH. A graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Weston, West Virginia. Dr. Reynolds held degrees from Ohio University, University of Akron, and University of Cincinnati. An Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Cincinnati, his areas of expertise were in Vocational Education, Adult-Technical Education, Business Office Education and Special Education. His career also included positions as Supervisor, School Bus Driver Training at the Ohio Department of Education, Division of School Finance, Pupil Transportation Section, Director Adult Vocational Technical Education, The Central Ohio Joint Vocational School, Occupational Work Experience Coordinator, Central High School, Columbus, Ohio, Teacher, Canton City School System, Canton, Ohio. His corporate business career included President/Consultant of F. E. Reynolds Associates, Inc, and Rish Equipment Company, sales/sales engineer. Dr. Reynolds' intense interest in school bus safety for children led him to develop, patent and distribute safety mirrors for school buses and related vehicles. His military career spanned forty years and began when he joined the Navy as an U.S. Hospital Corpsman serving on the U.S.S. Saipan CVL-48. He later became an officer in the United States Air Force and Ohio Air National Guard, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel in 1980. He served with the 4080th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, the 121st Tactical Fighter Wing and completed his service at the OANG Wing level at Rickenbacker AFB. A graduate of the National War College, Fort McNier, Washington, D.C. and the Air War College, Air University USAF Maxwell AFB, Alabama, Lt. Col. Reynolds held decorations for his extensive and exemplary service. He was a Charter Sponsor of the Air Force Memorial. An active community member, Dr. Reynolds participated over the years in various civic, military and fraternal organizations, including 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No.671, Phi Delta Theta, Kiwanis, Kappa Delta Pi, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, The Retired Officers Association, USS Saipan CVL-48 Association, Lyman Boat Owners Association, United States Power Squadrons, Military Officers Association of America, American Vocational Association, National Education Association, and Association for Career and Technical Education. Dr Reynolds' lifelong interest in education and research led him to the decision to generously donate his body to the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Athens, Ohio. Dr. Reynolds will be remembered with a Memorial Mass on December 27, 2005 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption, 132 S. High St., Lancaster, Ohio, with Father Don Franks officiating. An Open House Reception will follow from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the family home at Hide-A-Way Hills for friends and family to celebrate the joys of his life. A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg, West Virginia.
