Kenneth "Ken" Buell, age 78, of Croton, died early Wednesday morning, May 2, 2018 at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. A lifelong resident of Harlem Township, he was born on April 27, 1940, the son of the late Floyd James and Emma Estella (James) Buell. He began at the Harlem Schools, which during high school, merged into the Big Walnut School District, where he graduated in the class of 1958.Ken began working the family homestead farm at 5 years old and continued until his death. Over the course of his lifetime, he had over 70 head of dairy cattle and farmed soybeans and corn. Farming was in his blood. He was extremely active in the Harlem Township Community. In the early 70's he was on the Fire Department, later becoming trustee and on the Fair Board for the Hartford Fair. He was also on the Zoning Board when zoning policy was written for the township and on the Heritage Group, helping organizing Harlem Township Days, Pancake breakfast, Spaghetti dinner, and the auction. Ken was a good man with a powerful handshake, who loved people; never missing an opportunity to go to social events where he could hang out with friends and make new ones. He will be missed by his daughters and their spouses, Serena and David Staugh of Delaware and Kendra and Michael Borror of Westerville; his better half of 20 years, Beverly Smith; 12 grandchildren, Amanda (Cyle) Hughes, Douglas (Christie) Cade, Kristin (Chris) Richley, Brittany Staugh, Kyle Staugh, Melissa Drake, Jordan Buell, Cassidy Buell, Jayden Buell, Carleigh Buell, Carlton Buell, and Jacob Buell; 11 great-grandchildren, Heather, Joshua, Keegan, Brayden, and Sadie Cade, Cyle Jr., Mackenzie, Madison, and James Hughes, and McKenna and Madalyn Coleman; and his sister, Jeannette Iris Faust of Lawrence, Kansas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Delman, Donald, and Hugh Buell, and Muriel Fling. Friends may call on the family on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Funeral services will be held there at 11 AM on Saturday. Burial to follow at Fancher Cemetery in Harlem Township.
