Robert VanAntwerp Obituary

VanAntwerp Robert "Bob" Harris VanAntwerp, age 72, of Delaware, passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a short illness, Saturday morning November 21, 2015. He was born on October 23, 1943 in Yale, MI to the late Harris J. and Jean (Lashbrook) Van Antwerp. Bob was raised by his maternal grandparents Mark and Martha Lashbrook of Goodells, MI. After meeting his future wife in the 5th grade, they both graduated in 1962 from Yale High School. He retired in 2003 after 43 years of service with Nation Cash Register Corp. as a Customer Service Representative. After his retirement he spent the next 8 years delivering Meals on Wheels for Source Point. Bob's greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren and their sports from basketball, volleyball, motor cross and lacrosse. Bob loved camping for the winter at Myrtle Beach or in Florida, but his greatest passion was NASCAR and he had attended almost every race track in the U.S. Bob was known for his homemade peanut butter ice cream. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet (Marthen) VanAntwerp and they were married November 2, 1963 in Goodells, MI; daughter, LeAnne Hauger of Delaware; son, Scott (Sheryl) VanAntwerp of Delaware; grandchildren, William Baker, Jesse Hauger, Shana VanAntwerp, Shannon VanAntwerp; brother, Tom (Cindy) King of Kentucky; special friends, Rick and Pam Rubin of Danville, IL; and many other family members and friends. Bob has requested that his body be donated to the Division of Anatomy at The Ohio State University to aid in the training of future medical practitioners. A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held Saturday at 12 noon on November 28 at the SNYDER-RODMAN FUNERAL CENTER, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015 with Pastor Bill Reid officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Source Point, 800 Cheshire Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Jan, sorry to hear about Bob. I did see Bob a few years ago at the NCR Christmas lunch. We did enjoy our earlier years together while at NCR.
