Martha Ladner

1930 - 2022

Martha Coltharp Ladner, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at her home. She was born January 15, 1930 in New Albany to Lamar Legler Coltharp and Marie Coffey Coltharp. She was an avid reader, loved flowers and birds, and especially loved playing bridge with her friends. She loved her family and her church, where she served as a faithful member. She was a very loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be missed by all who loved her.

Visitation will be held at New Albany Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 31, at 10:00a.m. with the service starting at 11:00 a.m. Reverends Stephen Ewing and Bill Everett will officiate. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by three daughters: Cathy Kleber (Mark) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Becky Nieman (Bob) of Memphis, TN; and Martha Sappington of New Albany; one son, Shelby Ladner (Rita) of New Albany; nine grandchildren: Blair Nieman; Beth Nieman Yates (Cameron); Jenny Sappington Thompson (Rod); Albert Sappington (Kelli-Anne); Spencer Ladner, Ansley Ladner, Dustin LaCook (Ren), Cameron LaCook, and Dillon LaCook (Jessica), and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Shelby Ladner, a son-in-law, Tommy Sappington, a sister Angeline Sugnet, and a brother, Gassaway Coltharp.

The family request memorials be made in her memory to New Albany Presbyterian Church.
