Marvin Fitzgerald Obituary

Marvin "Fitz" Preston Fitzgerald, 88, died Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Baptist memorial Hospital-Union County. He was born September 16, 1928 in Virginia to Hubert Franklin Fitzgerald Sr. and Florance Cathrine Tisdale Fitzgerald. He served in the Army as a helicopter pilot. After he retired he became a civilian employee for the Army where he was a test pilot and mechanic. He was a member of New Albany Civitan Club, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, and a Free Mason.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Roy Foshee, Bro. Brownie Tohill, and Bro Ricky Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Sarah Fitzgerald of New Albany; two daughters, Tina Klink (Gary) of Roanoke, VA and Libby Hancock of New Albany, MS; a son, Preston Fitzgerald (Jane) of Charleston, SC; a sister, Jane Karalevicz (John) of Waynesboro, VA; a brother, Hubert F. Fitzgerald Jr. (Betty) of Virginia; Five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Charles Fitzgerald and Reginald Fitzgerald

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday October 7, 2016 at United Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Hackathorn, Curtis Cobb, Terry Hill, Larry Miller, James Smith, and Eddie Graves. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class.
