Edward Devine Obituary

Edward Richard Devine Aug. 31, 1951 ~ Dec. 6, 2009 Resident of Walnut Creek Ed lost his battle with cancer on Sunday evening, December 6, 2009. Ed lived in Walnut Creek most of his life, graduating from Las Lomas High School. While married and raising his three sons, he lived in Oakland, CA. A gregarious fellow, he worked in several different roles at Vaughn's Men's Clothing in San Francisco and Palo Alto; warehouse manager at REI in Berkeley; and most recently as warehouse manager for Pratt and Whitney in Burlingame, CA. Ed was an upbeat, fun-loving man, happiest when entertaining those he loved most. He loved his friends and family, fine wine and good food, and long rides on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Ed's last days were surrounded by loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, George and Dorothy Devine of Walnut Creek. He is survived by his longtime companion, Kathy Healer; sons Shane A. Devine of Provo, UT; Nicholas A. Devine of Santa Rosa, CA; Patrick A. Devine and spouse Christine Diel, and granddaughter, Annabella Devine, of Hercules, CA; friend and former wife, Christine Armigo, of Santa Rosa, CA; and his sister, Diane Devine Richey of Dana Point, CA. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him; many people hold a special place in their heart for Ed, as he did for them. He would stand up for anyone, as all his friends would attest. At Ed's request, no public service will be held. A celebration of his life will be held by his immediate family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to: The Bruns Hospice House, 2849 Miranda Ave, Alamo, CA 94507 We love you, Daddy.

Ed's sister Diane and family...
I am very sorry to read of Ed's death.
We emailed often via "classmates" and he spoke lovingly of his family and granddaughter..

Rest in Peace Ed.

Diane - I am so sorry to hear of Ed's death. He contacted me on Classmates and we started emailing each other often, sometimes talking about living on Greenway Dr. when we were all just kids. As a cancer survivor myself, I tried to give him hope and encouragement.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
