Mary E. Foy

Mary E. Foy, of 8801 Stephen Church Road, died Wednesday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Stephen AME Church, Scotts Hill, NC. Burial will follow in the Pollocks Cemetery. "Aunt Woma," as she was affectionately called, grew up in New Hanover County and graduated from Williston Industrial School in 1938. Mary was employed with Modern Laundry for a number of years. She was a member of St. Stephen AME Church, Scotts Hill, NC, and served as Sunday School Superintendent for 50 years. She was also a member of the Grand United Order of Salem. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hattie Parker and Nora Brown and one brother, Lemuel Foy. She leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Bernice Foy Pridgen; one brother, Rev. David Foy; one sister-in-law, Mattie Foy; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and her caregivers, Karen Moore, Vanessa Gregory and Felicia Clayton. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the Willie L. Shaw Jr. Memorial Chapel.
