Paul Schmidt Obituary

Paul Frederick Schmidt, 88, of Oakland (and later Concord), California passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at his Assisted Living Facility-Oakmont of Montecito in Concord. Paul was born in Los Angeles, CA to Fred and Marie Schmidt on June 30, 1934. His family moved to the Bay Area during World War II. After graduating St. Elizabeth High School, Paul met Joan and after 9 years, married in September 1960 to live their happily ever after together for over 50 years.Paul joined the Air Force ROTC while at Cal Berkeley. He graduated from Cal in 1957 and joined the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. Paul and Joan spent their first years together in Salina, Kansas. Paul's enlistment ended in 1963 and he moved his family back to Oakland, California to start his airline career with Pacific Airlines.Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and youngest son, John (Ted). He is survived by his three children, Paul & wife Karrie, Deborah & husband Walter, David, and Ted's wife, Heidi; his 8 grandchildren, Sarah & husband Craig, Jenny & husband Nick, Doug, Spencer, Sydney, Michael, George, and Albert along with his 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Addison. Viewing and Services will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 5562 Clayton Road, Concord on Thursday, April 13, 2023 starting at 1030 with a reception following the service. Burial will be on Monday, April 17th at 1pm at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward. For more information, please visit https://www.ouimetbrothers.com/tributes/Paul-Schmidt
