Bonnie Lou Cook, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, 1:00 PM at Melrose Cemetery, E Center Avenue, Melrose, NM with Pastor Michael Harmon officiating.
Bonnie was born on May 6, 1937, to Claude Smith and Louella Blankenship in Ada, Oklahoma. She was a member of 16th and Pile Church of Christ. Bonnie was a very vivacious person. She enjoyed making people laugh and was very entertaining. It's difficult to summarize who she was. Bonnie was the opposite of the average person. She had many interests and enjoyed a lively discussion about a variety of topics. She always had something to say. She loved life and attempted to enjoy it as much as she could. Bonnie encouraged others to live life to the fullest as well. She was also known as a generous and giving person. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Survivors include two sisters; Wanda Marks of Clovis, NM, and Helen (Booth) Dyess of Lubbock, TX, one niece; LouAnn (Don) Smith-Beard of Clovis, NM, four nephews; Jay (Janet) Roberts of Lubbock, TX, Bill Carter of Austin, TX, Bob Carter of Mountainair, NM, Jim (Gurdie) Carter of Melrose, NM, and Dee Roberts of Clovis, NM. She is preceded in death by her parents; Claude Smith and Louella Blankenship, Husband; William "Bill" Cook, sister; Venita Carter, and niece; Tammy Cook.
