Betty J. Merrill, 87, of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Betty was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Jasper, Alabama, to the late Wilson and Winnie (Roberts) Hollaway. On Nov. 11, 1995, she married Erick Merrill. Erick preceded her in death in January of 2022.
She is survived by her son Randy Williams and his wife Yvonne of Elkhart, her step-son Erick Merrill Jr. and his wife Rebecca; three grandchildren, Bobby Siefert, Crystal Williams and C.J. Seifert; as well as two great-grandchildren. Her siblings Mildred, J.C., Robert, Cloa, Estelle, Lucille and Linda all preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. Following visitation, Pastor Gary Miller will officiate Betty's funeral service beginning at 6 p.m. She will be laid to rest beside Erick in Fort Custer Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan, in a private ceremony.
Betty worked for a short time at AJ's Tip-Top Restaurant and at Accrapac of Elkhart, but her main role was that of a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother to her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, loved going to concerts and listening to live music, and watching hockey. She also loved animals, especially her dog Daisy. Mrs. Merrill was also a faithful member of "That Church on the Rise" in Elkhart where she served the Lord faithfully for many years.
