He retired from the military after 23 years of service. He continued to serve his country by working at Fort Bliss Bldg. 500, until retiring 6 years ago. He stayed busy during his retirement years with his grandchildren, encouraging them to be proud of themselves in whatever they decided to do in life. He was a wonderful husband, and a great Dad. The moment the first child was born, he said, "My boy's going to college!" He always encouraged us, even when we made mistakes. We will always miss his laugh and sense of humor. Dear Mom,

I know you have an empty feeling inside... we will all miss Dad's smile and silly jokes. Dad was so good to all of us, so patient and so loving. But rest assure that Dad is closer to you than ever and his love for you and all of us is stronger than ever.

May God keep us strong,

With Love as Always,

Your son, Richard
