Rodney Cannon Obituary

Rodney James Cannon, 57, St. Clair, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Rodney, son of Robert Edwin Cannon and wife Anna Frances, nee Thomas, was born Feb. 22, 1957, in Homestead, Fla. He was united in marriage to Dian Lynn Eye, nee Briggs, June 12, 1994, and their families were joined as one.

Rodney was a Christian, and attended First Assembly of God Church, St. Clair. During his working years, he was employed by Daimler Chrysler Corporation, Fenton, where he worked as a forklift driver, retiring after 13 years of service. He also was a retiree of United Auto Workers, Local 136. Rodney had a variety of interests throughout his life, including fishing and hunting. He also loved to play the guitar, sing and tell funny stories. He loved animals, especially dogs, and most especially his pitbull, Rebel. What meant most to him was time spent with his family. Each of them held a special place in his heart, as he did in theirs. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will live in their hearts forever.

Rodney was preceded in death by his wife, Dian Lynn Cannon; and father, Robert Edwin Cannon.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Frances Cannon, Cuba, Mo.; two children, Matthew Cannon Sr. and wife Amber, Owensville, and Robert Cannon, Sullivan; two brothers, Larry Cannon and wife Tina, St. Clair, and David Cannon and wife Denise, Leasburg; four sisters, Debra Rodarte and husband William, Sacramento, Calif., Marsha Bell and husband Kenneth, St. Clair, Beverly Armstrong and husband Ronald, Cuba, Mo., and Lisa Bennett and husband George, Sullivan; two grandchildren, Matthew Cannon Jr. and Maddie Cannon, both of Owensville; one foster child, Dalton; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Jim Watson officiating.

Interment was in Anaconda Cemetery, St. Clair.

Memorials may be given to the St. Clair D.A.R.E. Program.
