Dearest Dan!
As always we make sure we have a visit w/you every year when we come to our summer place in Allenspark! This year 2015, after not finding u at meadow mountain cafe or other likely places around town we decided to invade your home. (This is what we did last too). We found you, on a Sunday morning! (sept 13 ) helping out a friend to get his dump truck working again. You looked very busy so we took off after a few minutes but not before you said to us that you will be on our road (cabin creek) all of next week doing some excavation & will surely stop by.
I congratulated you on loosing so much weight & looking the healthiest I've seen you. ( U were always saying to me that U have to do something about it & this is why U bought my exercise equipment).
The next morning we drove on the peak to peak highway to hike blue lake at Indian peaks, not knowing that tragedy had struct u there. It has been so unreal to us that one moment U R here & now no more! We are sooo sad to see you gone out of our lives without anyone to replace you. Allenspark will never be the same.
Our sincerest love & appreciation goes to your Franny & your family who will endure the loss your large presence & the void forever.

He never met a stranger, or if they were, they weren't one for long. Dan is now more alive than he ever was here on earth, and is enjoying the rewards of love and kindness born from his belief in Christ. We will see him again in Heaven.

Dear Dan touched many lives in his lifetime. A kind, generous person who DID talk, but also had time to listen. His kindnesses can be observed just looking around Allenspark. Others had stated his many qualities.
I have uploaded some photos of Dan that I have collected over the years.
Loving hugs to his family.

sending my condolences to the Family

What an irreplaceable loss for Allenspark. Dan was such a kind and generous person who would drop whatever important thing he was doing if someone needed help. He rescued us many times by digging out our long snowy road, coming as soon as he could get here. Dan was a person who would help but never asked to be paid! People had to chase him around to pay him because he worked so hard. I remember a time when I got stuck on my road by myself and I made my way to the Meadow Mountain Cafe. Dan was having his regular breakfast and told me to go on and have mine and he'd leave with me and haul me out. I couldn't imagine what more important thing he needed to be doing, but people were always most important to Dan. He made his mark on Allenspark and I feel grateful to have known him.

Dan was a tree mountain man, one generous to a fault. He loved his "toys", from his tractors, to his cars, to his antique butter churns. And he CARED for his friends, something so many people forget to do. One doesn't replace a man like Dan, but we will all remember him.

Our thoughts are with the Crane family at this time of loss. Dan was a good man and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

What a perfect obituary, really captures his spirit. My fondest memories of Dan are when he helped me bury my two dogs--showing up immediately because I was in need of help. We might have lost our neighborhood if he hadn't figured out in his inimitable way how to save Hwy. 7 at St. Malo, and what he did for the folks on Coyote Hill was incredible. He was one of a kind, a many-faceted jewel. We will all feel his loss. Condolences to his family and to all of us--Dan, may you fly fast and free now, and may you finally get that time off!

Dan, Thank-you for your friendship and the hospitality to me and my family when we were there in July, and whenever I came to visit. Loved the tour around your place and all your toys and hobbies You always made me feel welcomed and always giving. I loved hearing about all your adventures. The best thing was watching you and Sam on the back of your motorcycle when you came up to Safeway. Thanks for helping Pat out after the flood, he really appreciated it! My deepest heartfelt sympathies go out to my friend Adrienne and to her family and Dan's family. I will Miss you! This is to you Adrienne who I love Like a sister. I hate that you have to go through this, but I'm here for youand I'll still be here for you when you want to cry or when you're angry. If you need to yell about it to feel better, I'm here. If you want to vent, I'm here. And, if you need a laugh, I'm here. I may not understand what you're going through, but I'm here to listen, and I'll still be here days or years from now.
