Eunice Myers Obituary
Eunice J. Myers A grande dame: Stubborn and courageous Eunice Jeanne Severson Myers, 88, died Sunday morning at Golden Living Center on West 54th Street, Erie, after a years-long battle with illness. She was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Eau Claire, Wis., the daughter of the late Sever Severson and Elizabeth "Bess" Goulette Severson. She met the love of her life, William B. Myers, an Air Force pilot, in a bowling alley in Wausau, Wis. They married in 1944 and lived at various Air Force bases throughout the world: Wisconsin; Colorado; Texas; Florida; the island of Okinawa; and Naples, Italy. She loved the life of an Air Force officer's wife. She entertained often and loved to be the life of the party. She always said that a piece of her died when her husband was killed in a plane crash in Greece in 1966. She went on to remarry, but Bill Myers was her true love. She moved to Erie in 1982 to be close to her family, and was a member of St. Jude Church. Eunice was a fiesty woman who loved to laugh (and argue). She had a passion for the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed gambling at casinos in Atlantic City and Vegas. She was preceeded in death by her parents, a brother Jerome "Bud" Severson, her first husband, and her second husband, Herman G. Flieth. She is survived by her son, Steven, of Erie; her son John and his wife Brenda Martin, of Erie, with whom she lived in the last years of her life; a sister, Phyllis Theisen, of Erie; niece Ann Ferrando, of Lake City; nephews Tim Theisen, Erie, Tom Theisen, Erie, and Jeff Theisen, of Corry, and a number of great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by "her" spoiled cats, Cassie and Scamper. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel at St. Jude Church, 2801 W. Sixth St., Erie., with Rev. Mark O’Hern officiating. She will be buried with Bill at Arlington National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Erie Opera Theatre, P.O. Box 1954, Erie, PA 16507. Send condolences at bruggerfuneralhomes.com Sign the guestbook at www.GoErie.com/obits
