John Dwyer Obituary

John C. “Jack” Dwyer John C. “Jack” Dwyer, 83, retired Vice President of General Electric Company and General Manager of the Transportation System Marketing Division, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in Naples, Fla. Born July 27, 1924 in New York City, he was the son of the late Harold A. and Alice C. (Cullen) Dwyer. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, and served in the United States Navy. Following his retirement in 1986, both he and his wife moved to Naples, Fla., but kept a residence in Erie, Pa. In earlier years, John was very active in charitable organizations, serving on numerous boards and foundations. He was a Knight of St. Gregory and helped to organize and direct the annual Stewardship Appeal for the Catholic Diocese of Erie, Pa. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Dwyer, in 2006. Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy (Weschler) Dwyer; his children, Cullen Dwyer, of Bethesda, Md., and Mary Benoit, of Auburn, Mich.; his four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; a sister, Marie Therese Baley, and her husband, Dale, of Long Island, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Jack’s life will be held Friday, October 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Cathedral. Private inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
