Charlotte Coleman Obituary

Charlotte Lurene Doster Murphy Coleman, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Hanover Hall Nursing Center after suffering a stroke and another long illness. Born June 18, 1918, in Oconee County, Ga., she was the oldest child and daughter of the late Marshall M. and Pearl Mae Lancaster Doster. Before retiring, she worked and lived in Middle River, Md., where she was referred to and affectionately known as 'Georgia.' Surviving are sons, Michael Gerald Murphy of Concord, N.C., and Sir Thomas L. Murphy of Hampton, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, William P. (Randy) and Helen Coleman of Annapolis, Md.; daughter and son-inlaw, Elizabeth 'Betty' and Marvin Knight of Hanover; sister Latrelle Maxey of Jackson, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Sammie J. Johnson of Buford, Ga.; brother and sister-inlaw, Marshall M. and Betty Doster of Brooks, Ga.; brother-inlaw Sidney J. Coleman of Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law Patricia J. Doster of Brooks, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and the Rev. Durward F. Williams of Ellenwood, Ga., and Betty and Col. Bobby G. Jackson of Marietta, Ga.; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a longtime companion, Girson Rudolph. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Patrick Steven Murphy and Jesse Randolph Coleman. She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Patrick Steven Murphy Jr.; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Coleman and Mary Sue Doster; and a brother, Thomas Basil Doster. Her funeral will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 2112 Yingling Drive, Spring Grove, PA 17362.
