Dick was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Perkinsville, a son of Arthur and Emma (Wenz) Conrad. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. Dick married Loraine Jacobs on Nov. 13, 1954; she survives.

In his youth, Dick worked at the Wayland Woodcroftery, he then owned and operated the Sunoco Gas Station in Wayland for a number of years. Dick was also a Justice of the Peace for several years, and he drove for the ARC for 10 years.

In addition to his parents, Dick was also predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Arthur "June" Conrad Jr., Theda Mehlenbacher and Clark "Alonzo" Conrad.

Dick was a life member of the Perkinsville Fire Department, a past member of the Wayland Lions Club, where he was their president twice and he was also a member of the Perkinsville Rod & Gun Club and St. Peter's Church of Christ.

Dick enjoyed woodworking, gardening, the New York Yankees, playing cards and meticulously maintaining his yard, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Loraine; his children, Rick (Karen) Conrad, Patty Conrad (Ron), Pam Bennett (Dave) and Becky Cady (Phil); eight grandchildren, Jen (Matt), Danielle (Jon), Brian (Matty), Mike (Lacey), Lauren, Jon (Mickayla), Justin and Morgan; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan, Nicholas, Lilah and Kaylee; his siblings, Ted (Betty) Conrad, Irma (Len) Wheeler, Dewey (Marge) Conrad, Bob (Sue) Conrad, Shirley Gray and Jane Congdon; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m., today (Sunday) and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, followed by burial with full military honors at Greenlawn Cemetery in South Dansville.

Lorainne and family, I am so sorry to hear you lost your husband and father. I have fond memories of him coming into the Wayside and also doing the polka with him at the Octoberfests they used to have in Dansville. What a great dancer he was. Loraine, my prayers go up for you....Sincerely, Kate (Karaoke Kate) Janicki
