I knew Eric through a mutual friend. He was a friendly, easygoing guy and great to talk to. I'm sorry to hear of the tragic passing of the "Fishing Magician". My condolences to the family.

I am truly heartbroken to know I will never hear Eric’s voice again, or see his smile, or listen to one of his silly jokes. Eric and I met in graduate school at Marquette. We worked together in pharmaceuticals and spent many years in between as friends. He refused to ever call me by my name, and instead called my by the name on my car license plate (Rebafsh). When my son Zain was born on Eric’s birthday (November 10), he would only refer to him as little Eric. He taught me how to understand neuro-re-uptake using a basketball and throwing it back and forth to me. He taught me how to make asparagus with 7-up....so good!!! He argued with me about the correct way to lift weights. He would get so mad when I’d call his Dad Sean (after Sean Connery), so of course I never called him anything else:). I saw Eric through long and short hair, combed and wild. We met in a class at Marquette where half way through the class he would take off his hat and unleash a crazy mop of hair, and we would all laugh. He encouraged me when is was struggling, and always made fun of me....and of course I reciprocated. I don’t want to think I’ll never see or talk to my dear friend again. I am devastated for his family. Eric was the best of the best. He did everything right in my book. He was a good and true friend. Honest and caring. Hilarious and up for anything. I miss you already so much. I wish we had more time. I wish we had talked more often. I will pray for your family always.

I am so very sad to hear this news. Sincerest condolences to Eric’s family. We were classmates at Ripon. Eric was a kind friend, and his smile lit up every room.

I am shocked and saddened by this news. I attended Ripon College with Eric and we worked together in the Commons. He made the job fun with his humor and stories. He taught me about “per near” and I am sure I taught him a Minnesotan equivalent. Eric was a guy you could count on and a friend to everyone. Smart, funny, and kind. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. I am holding you all in my heart and prayers. I know he will be deeply missed and long remembered.

He was a great math teacher. Everyone loved his jokes and he never failed to put a smile on someone's face when they were having a bad day. Even when Mr. Pilsil was was having a bad day, his students put that smile he needed on his face. He will be deeply missed by a bunch of people. His students, staff, friends and past students will miss him deeply. Fly high Mr. Pilsil.
