William Loehr Obituary

William "Bill" L. Loehr

William "Bill" L. Loehr, 71, of Fond du Lac, passed away July 25, 2014 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

He was born on June 25, 1943, a son of Leo and Lucille (Riegert) Loehr. Bill was a graduate of St. Mary's Springs Academy. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964 stationed in Germany. On June 11, 1966, he was united in marriage to Linda Flanders at St. Louis Church in Fond du Lac. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.

Bill was a devoted husband, loving father and phenomenal grandfather. He demonstrated a strong love for family and the virtues of hard work and patience. Bill was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed following the Brewers and Cubs. In his younger years he participated in baseball, softball, bowling and hunting. In his retirement years he enjoyed golf, playing cards and an occasional trip to the casino. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Bill started his career with Mercury Marine, and then worked for Giddings & Lewis. After that he was co-owner of Forest Spring Cheese Factory and ended his career at Michels Corporation.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 48 years, Linda; his daughter Lisa, son-in-law Kevin Schaefer and granddaughters Alisha and Courtney; one brother Rev. James Loehr of Waukesha, three sisters; Mary (Bob) Salchert of St. Cloud, Betty Schmidt of Germany and Carol (Jeff) Broecker of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law Dan (Judy) Flanders of Fond du Lac and Al (Emily) Flanders of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Lee and Virginia Flanders and three brothers-in-law; Karlheinz Schmidt, Bill and Bob Flanders.

Visitation: Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church. Full military honors will immediately follow the service. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Bill's doctors Dr. Tuveson, Dr. Lundberg, Dr. Korytko and Dr. Kumar for the care given over the past four years. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Hospice Home of Hope and Hospice Home Care for the care and compassion given to Bill in his final days.
