PELHAM, NH -- Stephen G. Blanchard, 58, of Pelham, NH, died Thursday, August 18th at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Sandra J. (Goodwin) Blanchard who survives him and with whom he would have celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on September 6th of this year.

Born in Leominster, MA, March 19, 1958, a son of the late George and the late Gloria (Carrier) Blanchard, he attended Fitchburg schools and was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. Eager to further his education, he then went to graduate from Fitchburg State College and then earn a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Suffolk University in Boston.

Steve was self-employed as a consultant/project manager at Blanchard Consulting and was most recently doing contract work for Bridge Energy.

Active in his community, he served as a Committee Chair for the Pelham Boy Scout Troop #25 and was a member of the First Congregational Church. In addition, he was involved with the Pelham High School Robotics Team #4034 as a mentor.

Among his many activities, Steve was passionate about golfing, loved skiing and playing poker with his buddies. He was also an avid New England Patriots fan. Above all else though, he cherished the quality time he was able to spend with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Sandy, Steve is survived by a daughter, Alison S. Blanchard and a son, Samuel G. Blanchard, both of Pelham; two sisters, Patricia Blanchard-Herrin of Hampstead, NC, and Cynthia Zingarello and her husband, Mark of Durham, NC; two brothers, Gary Blanchard and his wife, Kelly of Ashburnham, MA, and Andrew Blanchard and his wife, Jane of Chester, NH; his mother-in-law, Jean Goodwin and her companion, Jason Berkowitz of Dedham, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

BLANCHARD -- Friends may call for a Memorial Visitation at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM, NH from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Wednesday morning at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH in Pelham at 10 o'clock. Committal Services will be held privately.
