Charles "Cotton" Wallace McGlothlin, Sr., 94, of Titusville, FL, formerly of Princeton, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Royal Oaks Nursing Home in Titusville, FL. Cotton enjoyed an active life until his last month when he entered Royal Oaks Rehabilitation after a fall. He died peacefully in his sleep with a Hospice nurse at his side. Cotton was born on August 29, 1919 in Princeton to Joe H. and Julia McClaugherty McGlothlin, who preceded him in death along with his wife of 65 years, Mary Virginia "GiGi" McGlothlin, his brother, J.H. "Pete" McGlothlin, Jr., sisters, Lucretia "Madie" McGlothlin Dyer and Janice McGlothlin Morgan. He is survived by sons, Charles W. McGlothlin, Jr. and wife Dairdre of Rochester Hills, MI, Joe E. McGlothlin and wife Nancy of Advance, NC, Michael M. McGlothlin and wife Pam of Huntersville, NC; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Cotton grew up in Princeton adjacent to the Princeton Airport. He worked at the airport pushing planes in and out of the hanger to pay for flying lessons. Cotton soloed in 1935 at 16 years old and began a flying career that lasted more than 50 years. During World War II, he was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps in Charlestown, WV and Arcadia, FL from 1942 to 1946. As a commercial pilot, he flew for Belcher Lumber Company, Rish Equipment, The Daniels Company, and Gilbert Imported Hardwoods. Cotton also managed the Mercer County Airport from 1951 to 1968. He leaves behind many close and very dear friends associated with these organizations. A memorial service and interment will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 in Princeton. Family and friends are welcomed to gather at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with a funeral service at 2PM followed by a short graveside service. A reception for family and friends to celebrate the lives of both Cotton and GiGi will follow the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that you say a prayer of thanksgiving for having Cotton and GiGi in our lives. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.seaverfuneralservice.com.
