John Lawlor, CDR USNR (Ret) Obituary

John Conrad Lawlor, 91, of Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Holmes Regional Medical Center. Born on February 19, 1919 in Washington, DC, he graduated from Catholic University in 1940 and joined the U.S. Navy prior to WW II as an Engineering Duty Officer.
He served in Battleships and Cruisers in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Mediterranean for five years. After the war, he stayed in the Naval Reserves rising to the rank of Commander. He transitioned to Civil Service working in the Pentagon for 27 years while residing in Silver Spring, MD and Alexandria, VA.
After moving to Florida in 1972, he worked for Florida Power and Light for several years. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Lawlor is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Tina Lawlor; one son, John Lawlor, Jr. (Susan) of Merritt Island, FL; two daughters, Kathleen Gwynn (George) of Frederick, MD, and Lisa Wyatt (Steve) of Biglerville, PA; one stepson, John Denhart (Kelly) of Charlotte, NC; one stepdaughter, Marta Denhart of Melbourne, FL; eleven grandchildren, Lori Renfroe of Jacksonville, FL, Michael Lawlor of Glen Allen, VA, Christine Lawlor of Jacksonville, FL, Lauren and Ryan Gwynn of Frederick, MD, Demetrios Mustakas of Gaithersburg, MD, Christopher Mustakas of Tampa, FL, and Joseph Mustakas who is serving with the U.S. Army in Korea, Katie and Michael John Renew of Martinsburg, WV, Michelle Lawlor of Martinsburg, WV; two step grandchildren, Laura and Haley Denhart of Charlotte, NC; and seven great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date where a memorial service will be held.
