Helen Dilmore Obituary

WATERLOO - Helen Hartwell Dilmore, 87, formerly of 15 W. Williams St., died Friday (October 22, 2010) at Pines Nursing Home in Machias.
The Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 6) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The Rev. Nancy Bidlespacher, retired pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the North Seneca Ambulance, 1645 North Rd., Waterloo or the Waterloo Library and Historical Society, 31 East Williams St., Waterloo.
Helen was born January 13, 1923 in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Harlow and Sara Bartlett Hartwell. She and her family moved to Waterloo one year later making Waterloo her "home town."
She cared deeply for her family and enjoyed many friendships. She especially found pleasure by helping others as a Literacy Volunteer and member of The Geneva Women's Club. She was a Sunday School teacher and Girl Scout leader. She was a member and past matron of Seneca Chapter 78, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a secretary for her father, Attorney Harlow Hartwell and employed in several positions at the Waterloo Town Office.
She is survived by one son, Roger (Judy) Dilmore of Auburn; two daughters: Barbara (Robert) Focht of Statesboro, Ga. and Martha (Richard) Martin-Tillinger of Allegany; five grandchildren: Wendy (Ethan) Focht-Stelmack, Jonathan (Kathy) and Gregory (Tammy) Dilmore, Pamela (Erik) Yuhnke and Christopher (Nicole) Martin; nine great-grandchildren; four nephews; and two nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John E. Dilmore in 2000; grandson, Robert J. Focht; sister, Harriet H. Haynes; and dear friend, Cliff Velte.
