Ted Osborne Obituary
There will be no prior calling hours. Private internment will be in Sampson Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Friends are invited to a celebration of Ted's life 4 p.m. on Friday (June 29) at the Phelps American Legion.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Midlakes Ski Club 1554 State Rt. 488 Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
Ted was born on February 22, 1930 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Arthur and Elsa Frederickson Osborne. He was a US Navy Veteran and served in the Korean war on board the USS Lake Champlain CVA 39. Ted was a member of the Phelps and Geneva American Legion Post. He was also a member of Garoga-Sincerity Masonic Lodge 200 F&AM. Ted graduated from Kenmore High School in 1947. He earned his Bachelors degree from the University of Buffalo in 1957 and his Masters degree in 1966 from the University of Albany. Ted started his teaching career in Gloversville in 1957 until 1967. He became a Guidance Counselor in 1967 at Midlakes High School from where he retired in 1991.
He is survived by his children Randy (Susan) Osborne of Fort Worth Texas, Marc (Chris) Osborne of Penn Yan, Sharon Gilday of Rochester, N.Y., Linda (Paul) Hanson of New Freedom, Pa., Susan (Pete) Switzer of Geneva, Jamie (Carmen Mungo) Osborne of Geneva; sister, Dorothy Anderson of Warminster, Pa.; grandchildren Jeniffer, Ava Jo, Callie, Troy, Jessica, Jason, Heather, Ashley, John, Tom, Caitlyn, Lauren, Sally, Stephen, Matthew, Zachary, Josiah and Lyndsey; 15 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth who died in February 2018. Two brothers Robert and William; son-in-law, John Gilday.
Funeral arrangements have been made with the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street, Phelps.
