Richard Relf Obituary

Richard Relf IV passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2008. He was at his home in Cumming, in the company of his family, when he quietly slipped away to his next cocktail party.
Richard was born to Richard Relf III and Louise Annabelle Fulton in St. Paul, Minn., on April 1, 1925. The world enjoyed 83 years of his generosity, hospitality and fantastic sense of humor.
Richard answered his country's call to duty during World War II on March 30, 1943, joining the Armed Guard Unit of the U.S. Navy. As a Seaman First Class, he received an official commendation for his bravery after the ship that he was aboard, the SS Cape San Juan, was sunk in the vicinity of the Fiji Islands on Nov. 11, 1943, following the torpedoing by enemy forces.
Richard moved to the Atlanta area in 1982 with his wife, and retired in 1988 after 40 years of dedicated service to Gould Inc. He served as the past president and member of the board of the Country Club of Roswell 1989-1991.
Richard is survived by his wife; four children; five grandchildren; and younger brother.
Richard's family would like to thank all the wonderful people whom we met through him, and ask that you raise a glass and toast the wonderful times we had enjoyed with Richard. The Ultimate Gentleman.
The family's celebration of Richard's life will be held in Livingston, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 700 Highway 356 South, Onalaska, TX 77360.
