Laurinda Hill Obituary

Laurinda L. Hill

WOLFEBORO - Laurinda L. Hill, 67, of Wolfeboro and Portsmouth, died Sunday December 7, 2014, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, peacefully with her family by her side.

Born in New Haven, Conn., on May 4, 1947, she was the daughter of Joseph K. Hill, Sr. and Jean Lichty Hill. She attended Day Prospect Hill School in New Haven and then Briarcliffe College in N.Y., where she majored in art history.

Laurinda, aka Rinda, to all who knew and loved her, owned and operated Worldly Goods in Market Square, Portsmouth with her dear friend and business partner of many years Holly Lantinen. Before that, she owned Patience Corner Quilt Shop located on The Hill in Portsmouth.

She is survived by her husband, David Holden of Wolfeboro and Portsmouth; her daughter Mary Roetger and her grandson Robbie Rohrbaugh as well as her brother Joseph K. Hill, Jr., his children Avery and Jonathan and his wife Sara Treacy.

Rinda used her artistic talents to redesign and beautifully decorate several homes; she enjoyed reading, genealogy, gardening, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She well-tolerated motor boat rides with David and their dogs.

Patience Corner was my "home away from home" for many years and time spent there with Rinda and Sue, truly a dynamic duo, was always a delight. Talent, energy, gentleness, humor and a true love for what she did made it a special place for all and Rinda will be lovingly remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.

Although I haven't seen Rinda in a few years, I'll always consider her a very dear friend.
I met her when she owned Patience Corner. She is the one who really nurtured my love of quilting. I enjoyed our time and visits together.
She'll be greatly missed as she was, and always will be, a very special friend and person in the lives of those she touched.
Many prayers and blessings to her family.

All I ever heard from my sister was "how much she enjoyed being with Rinda." Her love of people, all things beautiful and her family were so evident in her life. Her kindness was exemplary. May the angels surround her and may her dear family and friends find the comfort that they so badly need both now and in the future. "A life well-lived, dear Rinda, …..continue making the heavens a more beautiful place."

Rinda was gentle, kind, and loving. She deeply loved her family - it was clear how much they meant to her and how happy she was to be surrounded by loved ones. She had such talent and made everything beautiful. I will remember her always. My heart is with Mary, David, Joe, Robbie and the rest of the family. With my love and deepest condolences, Becca
