Agnes Grossnickle Obituary

Agnes G. Grossnickle, 86, of Stottlemyer Rd. Wolfsville, MD, was called home Wednesday April 29, 2015 from Meritus Medical Center of Hagerstown.

Born October 19, 1928 in Washington County, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Russell "Jim" and Edna Mae (Bowman) Kline.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Harold Grossnickle July 4, 1979.

She attended Smithsburg High School.

She was a member of Grossnickle Church of The Brethren and Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.

Agnes was an extremely talented seamstress and quilter, having made many clothes and quilts for family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed the outdoors and watching the variety of wildlife around her home. She was a proud gardener and enjoyed working in her flowers beds, taking many bus trips and traveling throughout the United States and even flying to Alaska. Agnes loved to bake, decorate and give away Christmas cookies. She was a devoted wife to her husband Harold and spent most of her life raising her family.

She is survived by sons Nelson H. Grossnickle and wife Janet of Wrightsville, PA, Randy D. Grossnickle, Sr. and wife Janine of Dover, DE, Dean K. Grossnickle and wife Stacey of Waynesboro, PA, and Wayne C. Grossnickle of Wolfsville, daughter Patricia Ann Stottlemyer and husband Brent of Wolfsville, brothers Wade Kline and wife Jane and Jimmy Kline and wife Sharon all of Smithsburg, MD, sister Judy Willard of Sabillasville, MD, brother-in-law Roger Swope of Smithsburg, grandchildren Emily Goodling, Jill Romine, Randy Grossnickle, Jr., Tiffany Reeves, Samantha Reeves, Jeremiah Grossnickle, Nelva Grossnickle, Thomas Grossnickle and Lydia Grossnickle, eighteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters Margaret E. Swope and Henrietta S. McFerren and two brother-in-laws Robert McFerren and Harry Willard.

Services will be held Monday May 4, 2015 at 11:00am at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, with Pastor Randy Reid officiating. Burial will be in Grossnickle Church of The Brethren Cemetery, Myersville.

The family will receive friends Sunday May 3, 2015 from 3-7pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.

Agnes enjoyed and loved her flowers, and her wishes would be to have flowers surrounding her and her loved ones throughout the services.
