Gene Giddens on behalf of 1957 High School Classmates

June 29, 2023

Fernandina Beach 1957 Classmates of Billy were saddened and mourn his passing. We will always remember Billy as a Mathematical Genius. In Geometry he would challenge our teacher, Midge Makeever, on triangles, percentages, angles, measurements, etc. And as usual, Billy would be correct. He was a super nice guy and will be missed, but not forgotten. The class has made a small donation to the Alzheimer's Association on behalf of Billy.

So sorry to hear of Billy's death. Billy and I were classmates at Fernandina High School. Billy was a delight to know as well as his sister Mary and his parents were kind and caring parents. Will miss Billy.

He was such an amazing grandfather. We always went to the art museum, art paths, gardens, and many of the other museums around DC every time I visited him and always had such a wonderful time and many great conversations. We even enjoyed watching a mother duck and her ducklings walk around a fountain when my husband-though boyfriend at the time- visited him. We used to go to Red Lobster at least once a year to celebrate birthdays. He was such a great person. I love him dearly and miss him greatly.

Love my sweet Uncle Bill. Such a world traveler and lover of art and music. How he loved his jazz! He was much more than a brilliant mind. His love of all thing´s beautiful and scrumptious was contagious. As was his laugh . His writings were in-depth and provoking. His impact was great and his life was lovely. I´m grateful to have been apart of it.

I am so sorry for your loss. Growing up I always enjoyed time spent with Uncle Bill, he was a little quirky and eccentric. I´m sorry to say I didn´t spend as much time with him in my adult years, but have fond memories of him as a child.
