Dorothy Makel Obituary
Dorothy worked many years and retired from Capital Milk Produce in Frederick, often walking back and forth to work because "it is healthier." Dorothy loved spending time with her family where she was often decorated as the primary cook. She loved decorating her home for the seasons and creating her own sun by making her home a beautiful sanctuary where all were welcomed. Mom will be forever in our hearts, and we rejoice for having been blessed with such a gracious and amazing mother and matriarch.
She is survived by her: brothers, Wilson Ambush and Arnold Ambush; six children, Malcolm Makel (Betty), Sandra Makel, Garland Makel, III, Darlene Cosley, Dexter Makel (Stephanie), and Roxanne Gaines (Dwayne); 32 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her: beloved husband and friend, Garland A. Makel, Jr. in 2005; parents, Charles H. and Emma Bruce-Ambush; brothers, Howard Ambush, Edward Ambush, and Richard Ambush; and sisters, Catherine Harris, Elizabeth White-Morris, Louise Harris, and Emma Duckett.
Services will be held on Mon. Oct. 17, 2022, at the Rollins Life Celebration Center, 330 Catoctin Ave., Frederick, MD, with family greeting friends at 10:00 a.m. and funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
