Henry Carter Obituary

Mr. Henry L. "Bud" Carter Sr., 79, of Middletown, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick.

He was the husband of the Margaret Annetta Baker Carter who died in 1993. They were married for 50 years.

Born April 30, 1924, in Grapefield, Va., he was the son of the late James Benjamin and Mary Alice Looney Carter.

Mr. Carter was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are five children, James E. Carter and wife Nancy of Columbia, Henry L. Carter Jr. of Middletown, Nancy L. Remsburg and husband Frank of Frederick, Patricia F. Schrader and husband Harold of Bluefield, W.Va., and Jacqueline D. Ray and husband Wayne of Middletown; four sisters, Zora Britts, Lucy Burress, Fran Hugueley and Norma Harlas; one brother, William Carter; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Orval Carter, Martin Carter, James Carter and Buck Carter; four sisters, Cassaline Thompson, Cosba Powers, Gertrude Hurt and Georgia Atkins; and one grandson.

Family will be receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Hilton Funeral Home (www.hiltonfh.com), 22111 Beallsville Road, Route 109, Barnesville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.

The Rev. David L. Coblentz, pastor of the Greenbrier Baptist Church, will officiate.

Bearers will be Frank Remsburg Jr., Larry Remsburg, Chuck Remsburg, Frank Remsburg III, Glen Feltner and Daryl Harne.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
