Jimmie Slemp Obituary

Mr. Jimmie Lee Slemp, 58, of Frederick, died Sunday, September 11 at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda. He was the husband of Himilce Quinones Slemp, whom he married December 27, 1985.

Born December 4, 1946 in Elizabethton, Tenn., he was a son of the late Samuel Valentine and Lucy Ann Cable Slemp.

Mr. Slemp served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church, Tenn., and the National Institute of Health Judo Club. He had been employed as a Network Engineering Manager with the National Institute of Health from which he retired. He was an avid golfer.

Surviving besides his wife at home are two sons, Jacob J. Slemp and wife Keri J. of Owings Mills, and Raymond A. Bernstein of Boonsboro; a daughter, Lisa Y. Herr of Olney; six grandchildren, Graham, Matt, Katie, Jessica, Justin and Nathan; a sister, Bess M. Prichard of Georgia; and four brothers, Joe A. Slemp of Georgia, Clarence E. Slemp of Louisiana, Ray E. Slemp of Texas and Ben D. Slemp of Tennessee. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Mr. Slemp is at the Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 North Market Street, Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 15.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 16 at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Norman Mayer officiating.

Interment will be in Christ Reformed Cemetery, Middletown.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mr. Slemp to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
