He then attended Frostburg State University. He continued his baseball career with the Brunswick Orioles in the semi-pro Blue Ridge League where he was drafted by the Texas Rangers. After baseball, he joined the Ft. George Meade Fire Department in 2001. He was the Captain on Truck 45 at the time of his passing. In 2008, he was awarded the United States Army/DLA Firefighter of the year. He was also a volunteer firefighter at the Urbana Volunteer Fire Department to begin his fire department career. He continued his love for baseball by volunteering as the Commissioner of LOUYYA Baseball Club and helped spearhead the building of Jeffy's Field. He then started In The Dirt Baseball as a means for teaching catching lessons, which morphed into the baseball academy that it is today with 6 successful teams. He took pride in training youth in the Special Olympics in Frederick. He was also a coach for several tournament softball teams over the years and also an assistant coach of the Urbana High Varsity softball team. He has made such a huge impact on all the children he has coached over the years. I am reminded that a good life is not measured in the amount of years we live out but in the legacy of how we lived during the amount of time we are given. Jeremy lived large. He led, served and loved large. No matter who you were or how you knew him he treated you special. People like Jeremy are remembered not only for what they did but in how they helped others be better for having known them. Jeremy - your line will shine. You will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Jeremy, although I never met you, it felt as though I knew you because of how much your mother talked about you, Hunter, and Carliegh. She always had a story to share that involved the three of you. I can only imagine how broken her heart is. You were and still are a blessing to her and will truly be missed.

Connie, from my family to yours, my deepest condolences. You are the matriarch of our DOE family and it hurts to see you hurt. Please continue to be strong and lain solely on your family, friends, and your faith during this time. Love you always.

Growing up Jeremy was my cool older cousin. He had the best toys, listened to music I had never heard and was just fun to be around. We would play video games, ride 3 & 4 wheelers through the woods, listen to Duran Duran, look at his baseball cards or just laugh. As we got older and went to college Jeremy was a short distance away from my college and I was able to go watch him play. He was so fun to watch. Missing teeth and all. The years have passed and we got busy with our own families but I always loved following and seeing what he and his family were up to. The guy gave his whole heart to his family and friends and had such a positive impact in all the lives he touched. Heaven gained one of the best and my heart hurts for his amazing kids, parents, family and friends. Although he is not physically here I know that his legacy will last for lifetimes to come. Thanks for being my cooler older cousin Jeremy. I'm thankful for the memories. Rest in peace!
