Carolyn O'Barr

Mrs. Carolyn Virginia Heaton O'Barr, 75, of 624 Athens St., Hartwell, Ga., died Monday, May 30, 2005, at Roper Hospital, Charleston, S.C.

Born in Hart County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Matthew Heaton and Olive Gertrude Elrod Heaton. She was a retired account clerk with Charleston County treasurer's office. She was a graduate of Palmer College and a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church.

Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dwaine and Connie O'Barr of Fredericksburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn O. and Marvin Fleck of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Shirley H. Woods of Pine Mountain, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Shannon Dildine, Kerry O'Barr, Patrick O'Barr and Gene Cumbie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Columbus O'Barr, and three brothers, John W., Sterling G. and Clarence Heaton.

A funeral will be held Friday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, Ga., with the Rev. Ted Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Reed Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Thursday, June 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. The family is at the home.

Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to Abundant Life Baptist Church, Box 237, Hartwell, Ga. 30643.

Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Carolyn O'Barr.
