Hugh MacLennan Obituary

Hugh MacLennan

Hugh MacLennan was born on May 9, 1930, to Jane (Jean) MacLennan

and Albert MacLennan in Hazel Park, Michigan. He was raised in Detroit and attended Cass Technical High School. He graduated from Wayne State University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts.

He was a retired insurance salesman and business administrator in the printing and publishing industry where he had the uncanny ability to make everyone laugh. When Hugh wasn't tap dancing in his slippers while making toast and tea for breakfast, he was frequently found enjoying yard work or an episode of Law & Order. He loved golf, classical music, cooking, and Laurel and Hardy movies. One of his favorite "Hughisms" was a quote from Mr. Stan Laurel: "Life isn't short enough."

Hugh died peacefully at his home in Farmington Hills, Michigan, on Saturday, December 19, 2020. He is survived by his daughter, Allison MacLennan, M.D., who lives in Redmond, Washington; and his son, Hugh Cameron (Vanya) MacLennan, who lives in Royal Oak, Michigan. He has two grandchildren, Niko and Jasmine MacLennan.

A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2021 to keep family and

friends healthy and safe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gleaners Community Food Bank (www.gcfb.org) and the Michigan Humane Society
