The funeral for Arthur G. Emanuel, 56, of Dodge will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge.
He died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Omaha.
He was born March 26, 1947, in Dodge. He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic Grade School in Dodge and was a 1965 graduate of Dodge High School. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. College in Wahoo. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and served until 1975. During this time, he was stationed at Mount Home Air Force Base in Idaho, Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha and spent a year in Osan, Korea. He was a veterinary technician and later a food inspector while in the service. He married Kathleen S. Finegan on Nov. 28, 1970, in North Bend. After marriage, they lived in Idaho, Omaha and then moved back to Dodge where they lived to the present time. He farmed and was a carpenter. He did finish work and custom crafted furniture.
He was current vice president of the Dodge School Board, current chairman of the American Legion Baseball Committee, member of American Legion Post 122 of Dodge and of the Holy Name Society. He had served on the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church Parish Council and St. Wenceslaus School Board. He was a past 4-H club leader, past baseball coach and was a member of the Dodge Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include: his wife, Kathi; three sons, David (and wife, Sarah) Emanuel of Wahoo, Michael Emanuel of Lincoln and Nicholas Emanuel of Dodge; a daughter, Katy Emanuel of Dodge; three brothers, Martin (and wife, Margie) Emanuel of Steens, Miss., John (and wife, Darlene) Emanuel of Pittsburgh and Allen (and wife, Luanne) Emanuel of Fort Calhoun; five sisters, Esther (Mrs. Robert) Maloney of Seattle, Eileen Lanners of Denver, Ruth (Mrs. Larry) Cada of Lincoln, Amy (Mrs. William) Gaylor of Seaside, Calif., and Doris Christensen of Omaha; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
The Rev. Dennis DeGuzman will officiate Wednesday's service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the church with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Humlicek Funeral Home in Dodge. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in rural Dodge with military rites by Dodge American Legion Post 122.
