Tom Lucas Obituary

Tom Lucas
October 13, 1953 - December 17, 2020
Clovis, California - Thomas Anthony Lucas, age 67, of Clovis, CA, passed into eternal rest on December 17, 2020, with his wife, son, and eldest daughter at his side. Tom was born in Gary, IN, moving to CA at age 8. He graduated from CSU Fresno in 1977, and for 43 years enjoyed all the ups and downs of building the family empire, Valley Chrome Plating. Tom woke up singing every morning, he never met a stranger, and he lived his life fully. He was a master scuba diver, accomplishing over 750 dives all over the world; there was nothing he liked more than to take a trip with his friends from Bob's Dive Shop. He could also often be found making a new friend or catching up with an old one over a beer. The world will be a quieter place without him. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cindy, his daughters and son, as well as seven siblings and four grandchildren. Tom's funeral will be held on the field at OLPH Church on Tuesday, December 22- rosary recitation at 10:30am, mass beginning at 11:00am. Please bring your own chair. Any questions, please contact Clovis Funeral Chapel.

Remembering you with so much affection. I still have the chrome reflector you gave all of us in the dive group attached to my regulator retractor. It will always be there.

Tom,

Losing you was so hard. You were such an integral part of our dive group. We miss your hilarious sense of humor ("Val, what´s the first rule of getting out of the hole? Stop digging.") and your absolute exuberance. And your "I´m on a boat" t-shirt. Thanks for showing Phil the best way to clean scallops and always giving me your glasses when I would be squinting my way through the readings during mass.... We love you and miss you and celebrate you. It was a joy to be your friends and part of something you loved. God bless.

It´s been a year and the message canceling his haircut is still on my recorder. We had a good time solving the world´s problems. No one could replace him. God Bless the family.

On the 1 year anniversary of Tom's passing, I remembered how he made dive trips enjoyable just being there. His great sense of humor and his passion for diving. I miss him, and I will miss his presence on our trip to Socorro. Rest in peace Tom.

I meant Tom when he and Cindy met.
Cindy and I were also in touch when her first was born. It's been a long time since then and I remember fondly the fun and times in and out of school with Cindy.
My eyes are leaking now and these are tears of blessings that come from memories and these tears represent blessings from me to you Cindy, your family and your friends.
I am so glad I got to read this obituary about the accomplished and kind man you met married and had a family with.

I was so sorry to hear this news. My fondest memory of Mr. Lucas is him in the backyard singing "Bad to the Bone" but changing the lines to "Dad to the Bone." I found it hilarious then and still do. Brandy, Sally, Adam and Mrs. Lucas, my sincere condolences. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Tom was a great friend. I admired him for his dedication to his family. He was a good husband and father as well as a good son and brother. He set a standard for me in that way.

I respected Tom as a person. He was always genuine and honest. You knew where you stood with Tom and he didn't mind sharing his opinion. I liked that about him.

Finally, I'm grateful to have know Tom. He had an impact on me like only few people do. Our group from the cabin has been special to me and Tom was so much a part of that. Over the past few years, living in Wyoming I have not always been able to attend those "special meetings." Whenever I did it was as if we were never apart and it was that way with Tom. God bless him.

He was someone that you enjoyed getting together with every time you had the opportunity. He was interested in what you said and thought but he did have his own opinions. He will be greatly missed.

Tom, you will be missed. You always had a smile on your face and a positive attitude. I loved watching you hunt for scallops and appreciated what a great dive buddy you were at Cayman Brac. You waited patiently for me to take pictures underwater and pointed the way back to the boat. Your time with us was short, but I know you are in an awesome place now.

May he Rest In Peace, my thoughts are with all of the family. I went to elementary school with the Lucas kids. Tom and Cindy helped out my parents by carpooling and taking care of me after school. I always remember riding in his blue Z28 and listening to classic rock (although I didn't know what is was at the time). I know he will be missed by many people.

We sat behind Tom and Cindy at OLPH Church for about 25 years. Tom gave his time so freely to our Parrish. We will miss him so much. He always had a smile for us and helped all us Eucharistic ministers. We sure appreciated him.

For at least 20 years Tom was my client and friend. Cutting his hair was the reason for the visit but we covered many topics affecting us both. He made me laugh. He shared how much he loved his family and of course the next dive. I won’t look at a red tootsie roll pop without thinking of him. God Bless his family

I have known Tom for years. He was an excellent diver, and I enjoyed his company on many Bob’s Dive Shop trips. Tom had a great sense of humor, and a keen sarcastic wit. You could always find him underwater since he didn’t wear a hood, and his blond (later silver) hair always stood out. I wish I could attend the service, but I will be there in spirit. He was a good man, and a good friend. I will miss him.
