Michael Kennedy Obituary
Mr. Kennedy was born Nov. 30, 1952 in Clearfield, the son of Edmund J. "Ted" and Josephine M. (Shamp) Kennedy.
He was a graduate of the St. Francis High School in the class of 1970, the DuBois Business College and Thiel College in the class of 1976.
Mr. Kennedy worked in fiscal services at the Clearfield Hospital for 20 years and was administrator of the former Philipsburg Area Hospital for six years. He retired as a caseworker from the Clearfield County Assistance Office in July of 2015.
He was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield.
For many years, Mr. Kennedy was on the boards of the Clearfield Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Clearfield Stoneworkers Federal Credit Union.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam era.
Michael is survived by his wife, Brenda S. (Swales) Kennedy, to whom he was married Aug. 9, 1975 at the West Side United Methodist Church; two children, Michael Paul Kennedy and his wife, Heather of Aliquippa and Sarah Elizabeth Corner and her husband, William of Beaver; four grandchildren, Ella Chase, Michael John "MJ" and Charlotte Corner and Maddox Kennedy; three brothers, Edmund R. Kennedy and his wife, Rita of Williamsport and Thomas A. Kennedy and Ronald D. Kennedy and his wife, Louise, all of Clearfield; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Mary Swales of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Catherine L. Stover; and a sister-in-law, Joyce (Uncles) Kennedy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at the West Side United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at the church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols St., Clearfield, PA 16830, the Hahne Regional Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA 15801 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Brenda, My deepest sympathy to all the family. Mike was one of the kindest people I've ever met. He always had a smile on his face and happiness in his heart. I do not remember once of him being angry. I'm sure there were moments like we all have had, but I have never seen it. I consider myself lucky to have been friends with Mike and Brenda from the time our boys were born. My heart goes out to you Brenda and I will be praying for you all. Brenda and family, Mary and Paul, our hearts ache on hearing that you lost you dear husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law. He lived his life as God intented. Brenda and family, I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I have many memories of Mike over the years we spent at Clearfield Hospital. I could count on his smile to lighten the mood when things weren't going well. Praying for each of you during this time of loss.

Michael, you are the example that our young men should aspire to: kind, considerate, loving, fair, intelligent, great leadership abilities and oh so very generous and giving of oneself. Oh how I'll miss that smile and wink and twinkle in your eye.
