Patricia Faszcza Obituary

Patricia Ann Faszcza

Leesburg , FL - Patricia Ann Faszcza (nee O'Brien), 91, of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024 with family close by. She was born on May 14, 1933 in Northampton, Massachusetts, and was preceded in death by her loving husband Chester Walter Faszcza (Chet), her parents James and Hazel (Pierce) O'Brien, her only sibling, USAF SMSgt. James O'Brien and grandson Justin Plouffe.

Pat married the love of her life, Chet, in May 1952. While raising their five children in Hatfield, Massachusetts, Pat and Chet enjoyed summer family trips to Maine, boating on the nearby Connecticut River, snowmobiling the trails in Hatfield, and enjoying the company of friends. As a devoted wife and selfless mother, Pat was a proud, kind-hearted stay-at-home mom who leaves her brood with fond memories of wonderful aromas greeting them as they approached her kitchen (think apple pie, chocolate chip cookies, holiday meals). She wore many hats throughout her life including cook, cheerleader, nurse, referee, chauffeur, volunteer, election worker and, for many years, caregiver for her brother-in-law Joseph. Though she enjoyed her TV and crossword puzzles, she would more often be found curled up in a chair reading late into the night; a passion she passed on to her children. She was never far from a stack of novels on loan from her weekly trips to the library. Pat and Chet spent their retirement years in Florida where they were happiest hosting and making memories with family and friends. Her super power was to make everyone feel welcome and special. She carried herself with poise, took pride in her appearance, laughed a lot, and swam with exceptional grace.

Pat will be remembered affectionately for being a devoted and giving wife, mom, sister, aunt, grammy, great grammy ("GG") and friend. She leaves behind her five children, Susan (Frank) Abarno of The Villages, FL, Deborah (Richard) Skorupski of Leesburg, FL, Stephen (Pamela) Faszcza of Marshfield, MA, Patricia (Glenn) Bradley of Harwinton, CT, Jennifer (Robert) Van Dore of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Clarke, Victoria Abarno, Ryan Faszcza, Taylor (Cara) Faszcza, Hannah (Andrew) Cusano, Jacob (Jacea) Bradley, Keith (Angie) Skorupski, Adam Skorupski; great-grandchildren: Julian and Ethan Clarke, Isaiah and Hannah Skorupski, and Maia Faszcza; sister-in-law Anne Tierney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family offers their sincere appreciation to HearthStone of Leesburg, Serenades Memory Care in the Villages and Cornerstone Hospice for their compassionate care and endless love they provided to Pat in the twilight years.

Burial will take place at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at the convenience of the family.

Those who so desire may consider a memorial donation to charities most dear to Pat, such as The Alzheimer's Association (act.alz.org), the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org), or Cornerstone Hospice (cornerstonehospice.org).

Heaven gained the sweetest angel. I know Grampy must be glad to see you again, and Justin was there to give you one of his world-famous hugs. Your presence is so missed here, but gratefully welcomed by those who are dearly departed.
