Richard Powers Obituary

Richard L. Powers Jr, 65, passed away on January 5, 2019 with his family by his side at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

Rich was born in Hampton, VA on August 28, 1953 to the late Sophie H (Szumowski) and Richard L Powers Sr. The Powers family had many homes due to his father's military service. They finally settled in Florence, MA. As a young man, Rich's wanderlust spirit took him to many places. He enjoyed motorcycles, woodworking, tinkering, reading, music, and a nice cold beverage. Rich was skilled in many trades- motorcycle repair, logging, roofing, and carpentry. He worked with a window company for 25 years before retiring. Rich will be greatly missed by his wife Sharon (Pittsinger), son Luke and daughter-in-law Colleen Powers, grandson Conan, daughter Rachael Powers, sisters Noli Perry (Joe) and Lola Bushey (Michael), brother Joseph "Jay" Powers, many in-laws (and outlaws), nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:

East Chesterfield Cemetery Association

PO Box 15, Chesterfield, MA 01012
