Felix Smith Obituary
Jim was born in Niles, Michigan to Felix and Pearl Smith on September 2, 1929. The Smith family moved to Colorado when Jim was 6 years old. Jim graduated from Fruitvale High School in 1946. He enlisted into the United States Army and served as military police 1946-1949. On April 20th, 1952 he married the love of his life, Eva Thompson. They were married for 71 years.
Jim worked in the oil and gas industry, farmed his land, including a small peach orchard. He loved raising and showing his quarter horses, and making jewelry for his family and friends. He was a family man who was welcoming, loving, and proud. He was revered in our community and always had a welcoming smile and kind demeanor.
Jim is survived by his wife Eva Smith; children, Katherine White(Charles), Susie Schaaf(Jerry), and Daniel Smith(Rosy); his brother, Larry Smith(Linda); his 6 grandchildren, Kristie Simonson(Tyler), Steven White, Tera Schaaf, Tonya McMinn, Mindy and Melissa Thompson; his 8 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Filener(Chase), Paige Simonson, Connor Simonson(Erica), Bradley White(Jeanette), Kyle White(Tayren), Alex Hickman, Jakeous Beard, and Aryanna Riggs; his 6 great-great grandchildren, Jackson Simonson, Rylie White, Deacon Simonson, Atlas White, Bentley White, and Casten Filener; and many loving nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Felix Smith, mother Pearl Smith, brother Donald Smith, brother Norman Smith, and sister Marilynn Imbierowicz.
The funeral service will be held at Brown's Funeral Services, 904 N. 7th street, Grand Junction, Colorado on Monday October 30th at 11:00am. Viewing is at 10:00am. Burial will follow at the Veterans cemetery at 1:00pm. A celebration following the burial will be at the Smith's residence 487 33 1/2 Rd., Clifton, Colorado at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hope-West.
The family wishes to thank Hospice for their care and compassion.
