Marvin Lee Barnes
August 18, 1930 - December 16, 2014

Marvin Lee Barnes passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16th. He was 84.
Marvin was born on August 18th, 1930, in Mesa, Colorado, to Greene Franklin and Mary Esther Barnes. He attended Mesa High School and graduated in 1948 as the salutatorian.
During the Korean conflict, he served as Military Police in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he went to work for Holsum Bakery as a route salesman, a job he held for 35 years.
He enjoyed basketball, and watching the Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies, as well as coaching OTA and Little League. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, and gardening.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Lee Barnes, and three children, Dana (Gregg) Palmer, Don (Angela) Barnes, and Dennis (Michelle) Barnes; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Cathy) Satterfield, T.J. Satterfield, Shaun (Jamie) Satterfield, Kasey Barnes, Kary Barnes, Lindsey Barnes and Tucker Barnes. Additionally he enjoyed six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ervin and Willis Barnes, and a sister, LeVona Mae Steinhauser.
A visitation will be held at Martin Mortuary, Monday, December 29th from 6 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Martin Mortuary Chapel, Tuesday December 30th at 1:00 p.m. with graveside services to follow at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Grand Mesa Little League.

Marvin was a neighbor of ours for many years. My kids grew up with his kids, so I have many good memories of Marvin & Donna...I just wanted to extend my sympathy to Donna, Dana, Donald & Dennis.
